During the early hours of Saturday 14th September a team from across Asset Finance were taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (24 miles, 12 hours and 3 peaks - 2142m in height). The challenge was in aid of a new Cancer Treatment Centre which is due to be built in Basingstoke.

The team commenced the challenge at 6.45am and summited Pen-y-Ghent (691m) at 8.00am; the next 12 miles were to the base of Whernside (728m). As the sun rose the views were fabulous, we covered 12.5 miles and approached the Ribblehead viaduct.

The walk to the summit of Whernside was long taking near on 2 hours to climb the 728 metres. We were all starting to feel the distance and the ascent!

With a fighting spirit we continued to the last peak, of all the ascents Ingleborough which stands at 723 metres is the steepest and sharpest and if you suffer from vertigo you may on this peak experience a slight wobble.

From the summit of Ingleborough we checked the time and agreed with 5 miles to go that we could all, as a team, complete this challenge well within the 12 hours.  In fact we raised the bar and decided to set a target of sub 10 hours.

All 7 of the team crossed the finish mark sub 10 hours, the willpower and strain of completing this as a team was fantastic.

The effort really paid off. With Barclays matching pound-for-pound; and the generosity of colleagues, customers, family and friends we have raised in excess of £4,500 for the Charity.
