Wrestler Rob hits his target for Ark

He's done it! Basingstoke professional wrestler Rob Holte is celebrating after reaching his fundraising target for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Rob has been marking his 10th milestone year as a wrestler with a fundraising drive that is a tribute to his late dad and is making a difference to Ark's £5million appeal for the much-needed cancer treatment centre at Basingstoke hospital.

Rob’s dad Keith was 61 when he died in June 2015. Keith, who lived in Basingstoke, had been treated for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma for several years, and often had to travel to Southampton for radiotherapy treatment as this was not available locally.

As a tribute in memory of his dad, Rob pledged that all the proceeds he raises from wrestling shows, and donations, in 2019 will go to Ark Cancer Centre Charity. He was hoping to raise £2,000 – and last weekend, he reached his goal.

Rob, who lives in Basingstoke, said: “I am delighted to have reached my target, and I am grateful to everyone who has supported my fundraising efforts.

"This has been a really good way to mark my tenth anniversary and leave a legacy in memory of my wonderful dad, who was always so supportive and was my number one fan.

“In his later years, he had been a supporter of Ark Cancer Centre Charity, so I feel very proud to have honoured his memory by supporting this great cause throughout 2019. I really get why we need a new cancer centre in Basingstoke – one that will provide more help, support and treatment for local people, and I am delighted to have made a difference.”

Mark Jones, at Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: "Congratulations to Rob on reaching his fundraising target. As well as raising vital funds for Ark, Rob is a marvellous ambassador for the charity and the cancer treatment centre campaign.

"Everyone at Ark is grateful to Rob for choosing to support the charity in his milestone year, and it is marvellous that his generous donations and those from other supporters have seen him achieve his goal."
