Village Café serves up a boost for Ark

The team behind a community café project in Old Basing have been busy serving up a boost for Ark Cancer Centre Charity and other good causes as well as some tasty treats for visitors.

The volunteers running The Village Café, which is based in the Parish Room at St Mary’s Church, have been delighted with the response from local people and visitors since they opened the doors last October.

The regular Friday afternoon café has been a big hit, and the venue, which serves drinks and cakes, has proved popular with people of all ages.

Each term, The Village Café is supporting a local good cause, and among those charities to benefit from donations so far has been Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Mark Jones, dk, was delighted to be presented with a cheque for £1,119.21 on behalf of the Charity.

He said: “Thanks to everyone at The Village Café for their kind and generous support. Ark is honoured to be one of the first charities to receive support from this wonderful community venture.

“It is great that this local project is providing a lovely facility for the Old Basing community and a boost for local good causes.”

Debbie Filer, one of the team behind The Village Café project, said: “We have been delighted with the response to the opening of The Village Café, and are pleased that it is going from strength to strength.

“We look forward to seeing more people coming through the doors over the coming weeks and months on a Friday afternoon, and also to supporting other local good causes.”
