Bison and Zizzi serve up a boost for Ark

WHAT a n-ice event! It was a very good night for Bison fans and Ark Cancer Centre Charity as the Trane Basingstoke Bison and Zizzi Basingstoke teamed up to support the good cause. 

Bison supporters had the pleasure of being waited on by the Herd’s ice hockey stars as the Bison and Zizzi held the first of two charity evenings at Zizzi in London Street, Basingstoke.

Charity concert supports two good causes

An afternoon of marvellous music pulled in the pounds for Ark and another good cause at the weekend.

Basingstoke Hospital Male Voice Choir (BHMVC) and The Larks singers teamed up for the charity concert in support of Ark and St Peter and St Paul's Church - the parish church of King's Somborne.

Former BHMVC member Bill Martin, who now lives in King's Somborne and is a member of The Larks, was the driving force behind the concert. 

The Topiary Salon 15th birthday celebration supports Ark

Happy birthday to Ark Our Partner supporter The Topiary Salon, which is celebrating 15 years of success.

Laura Haystaff and team are marking the milestone for the business, which now has salons in Old Basing and Houndmills, Basingstoke, with two special Ark fundraising days today and tomorrow that feature cake, bubbly and prizes. A well-supported raffle and prize draw are both helping to pull in the pounds for Ark.

Mark Jones, for Ark, popped in with cake and a card, and thanked Laura and her team for their support.

It's a half-marathon hat-trick for dynamic Darren

Congratulations and thanks to dynamic Darren Lovegrove for going the extra mile, and then some, again for Ark Cancer Centre Charity in the 2019 Basingstoke Half-Marathon.

It's the third year running that Clarke & Son Solicitors marketing manager Darren has pulled on the running shoes for the gruelling half-marathon to raise funds for, and awareness of, Ark's £5million appeal.

Whiteoaks International PR are Ark bake-off champs

Baking skills were certainly on show as eight teams from Whiteoaks International PR competed in a charity cooking contest.

An assortment of tasty treats was created in the Great British Bake Off-style competition which raised funds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Adrian Culver, patisserie chef from Newlyns Cookery School, was the judge who put the cakes and bakes to the test and taste, and chose the top team and star baker.

Team Capella were delighted to claim the Bake-Off crown, while the star baker accolade went to Emma Slaughter.

Eine Grosse Nacht celebrates Arkriders success story

They've raised a very big sum of money, so it was fitting that Eine Grosse Nacht (One Big Night) was the name of a fun evening that celebrated the Arkriders amazing success story.

The German-themed night at The Irish Centre, in Basingstoke, celebrated the amazing efforts of the Arkriders Class of 2019, who raised over £55,000 by cycling 500 miles in five days from Basingstoke to Cologne on the Arkriders Twin Towns Tour, and also the achievements of everyone who has been involved in the Arkriders campaign since 2016, and has helped to raise over £270,000.

Bison and Zizzi team up to support Ark

The Trane-sponsored Basingstoke Bison and Zizzi restaurant will once again be teaming up for two charity evenings during the course of the ice hockey season that will deliver a boost to Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s £5million fundraising appeal.

Long-time Bison sponsors Zizzi are opening their doors to Bison fans on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 and Wednesday, January 15, 2020 for two special events which will see some of the Herd players become waiters for the evening.

Unum team's fabulous feat for Ark

A team from Ark Our Partner supporter Unum really walked the walk for the charity at the weekend as they took on a gruelling feat.

Nine employees from Basingstoke employee benefits company Unum walked for 28 hours non-stop, covering a distance of 100km, on the Ultra Challenge Series South Coast Challenge.

The terrific team - Andrew Brown, Francesca Skillett, Omar Ali, Claire Lever, Rosi Thurley, Tim Powell, Andrew Potter, Rich Eburne and Jessica Bate - received a hero’s welcome in Arundel on Sunday, where family and friends gathered to cheer them across the finish line.

Let's get quizz-ical!

Ark's fabulous Our Partner supporters at Beaufort Financial (Reading) are holding a fundraising charity quiz night on Wednesday. October 23.

Raising money for Ark and St Michael's Hospice, in Basingstoke, the event at The Tea Bar, London Street, will start at 6.30pm.

Entry for teams of five costs £150 and there are still a few spaces available.

Ark supporters raise nearly £90K in a few weeks
