Rotary bookbench installed at Ark-funded centre

IT’S a beautiful work of art and a symbol of the superb support from local Rotarians for Ark Cancer Centre Charity – and now the ‘Jane Talk’ bookbench has been installed as a key feature of the new wellbeing centre.

Cancer patients and their loved ones will be able to see the wonderful bookbench when they visit the Ark-funded centre in the Radiotherapy Unit at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

Team Whiteoaks step up to Ark challenge

THE team at Ark Our Partner supporter Whiteoaks International have really stepped up to the plate when it comes to supporting the charity.

Whiteoaks International, the number one tech PR agency outside London, has raised £1,000 for Ark Cancer Charity after colleagues clocked up more than nine million steps in February.

The Whiteoaks International Step Challenge saw 43 staff, family and even pets getting involved to reach the target in just 28 days — completing 9,377,160 steps and a distance of nearly 5,000 miles.

Art for Ark's sake is a big draw

TWO Ark Cancer Centre Charity supporters teamed up for a great competition that resulted in an artistic treat for a lucky winner and two runners-up as well as a lockdown fundraising boost for the charity.

Laura Haystaff, owner of Ark Our Partner supporter The Topiary Salon, which has premises in Old Basing and Kingsclere Road, Basingstoke, and Basingstoke-based artist Sian Storey  organised the event which saw main winner Harry Coomber become the proud owner of Sian’s lovely painting ‘Kindred’.

Recycling support makes a big difference

RECYCLING supporters have been praised for providing Ark Cancer Centre Charity with a crucial fundraising boost – resulting in nearly £63,000 being raised despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last year, Ark’s partnership with Bag It Up (BIU) Group saw the charity’s income from clothes and shoe recycling in its 50 branded banks in and around Basingstoke and Deane almost double from the impressive £35,333 figure that was raised during 2019.

Team AA is in top gear when it comes to fundraising for Ark

THE team at one of Basingstoke's best-known businesses have delivered a fundraising boost to Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Ark was proud and honoured to be the chosen Charity of the Year for 2019-20 by staff at the Automobile Association, in Basingstoke.

Based in the landmark Fanum House building, the local AA charity committee were the driving force who rallied colleagues to get involved in, and support, a series of fundraising events to help Ark.

Your recycling support makes huge difference

A THOUSAND thanks – in fact, make that 16,000 thanks!

Over the last two months, your wonderful support in recycling unloved clothes, shoes and textiles in Ark's 59-branded recycling banks in and around Basingstoke has added up to a £16,000 boost to the charity.

Mark Jones at Ark Cancer Centre Charity, thanked our wonderful supporters who have kept recycling clothes, shoes and textiles in our banks during lockdown. This has made a massive difference to the charity and its campaign to help cancer patients and their loved ones.

Ark supporters win honours at A Place to be Proud of Awards

ARK Cancer Centre Charity supporters were among the winners at the 2020 A Place to be Proud of Awards.

The awards were held virtually for the first time in their 17-year history, with celebrations taking place from the living rooms of the nominees and winners instead of in the Haymarket theatre.

In all, nine awards were given out to people and organisations that have made a difference to the town and borough - and a further eight winners were recognised for their outstanding contribution to Basingstoke's COVID-19 response.
