Tea Bar support on the tee!

A Basingstoke businessman has proved to be a real ace in the hole when it comes to supporting a local cancer centre charity.

Hayden Gowan, who owns The Tea Bar in The Top of The Town, was the driving force behind another successful fundraising golf day in aid of Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Forty-four golfers in 12 teams took part in the latest charity golf day which was held at Test Valley Golf Club, near Overton.

Tea Bar Golf Day

Hayden Gowan, owner of The Tea Bar in Basingstoke, regularly organises charity golf days and this year he was supporting the new cancer treatment centre. 48 golfers took part at Sherfield Oaks followed by dinner for 120 guests back at the Tea Bar. It was a great success with nearly £3,000 raised which was doubled by findmeagrant. We are looking forward to a repeat in May next year. Thank you Hayden and Philippa who helped organise the day.

A big thank you for a big cheque from Test Valley Golf Club

Thank you so very much to everyone who took part in various fundraising events over the past year at Test Valley Golf Club. Ladies Captain, Dawn Nicholson, proposed Ark Cancer Centre Charity as this year's beneficiary and we were delighted to receive a cheque for £14,000. Dawn herself took part in a cycling challenge and the ladies team put on their very own fashion show. In addition, the Club produced their very own version of a"calender girls (boys)" calender!  Merv Rees was delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of the charity at their annual dinner.

Test Valley Golf Club Fashion Show 2013

Golfers put their best foot forward

The ladies golf team of the Test Valley Golf Club took to the catwalk to raise £1,300 for the charity through the show, held at the club in Micheldever Road, Overton.

Dawn Nicholson, ladies captain of the club, said: “The evening was a great success and just part of a series of activities undertaken this year in support of The Ark Cancer Centre Charity, which is an incredibly worthwhile cause that will potentially benefit every family in the area. Tickets sold out weeks before the show took place.”

A big thank you to every member of Basingstoke Golf Club who gave their support and donations towards the £5,000 that we have received from the Club. This is a fantastic amount which is very much appreciated.

Wentworth Golf Day

Local businessman William Quail of ColdKit UK Ltd supported the charity on 7th June 2013 when he organised a charity golf day at Wentworth golf club Virginia Water. Merv Rees was delighted to have been invited to play at the event and meet up with other local businesses.
