Show of support by Clive Fortune Big Band

THANKS to the members of Clive Fortune Big Band for a kind and generous donation to Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Clive and his band, together with Basingstoke Area Youth String Orchestra (BAYSO), were due to put on 'A Night of Swing and Strings' concert in support of Ark on Saturday, March 21.

The Covid-19 crisis forced the cancellation of the concert - but Clive and his fellow band members have now decided to donate their latest quarterly subscriptions of £315 to the charity.

Clive said: "Everyone had been looking forward to the concert, and to raising money for Ark. While cancelling was the right thing to do in the circumstances, the band members decided to donate their latest round of subscriptions to the charity as it is close to our hearts and we wanted to do something to help in these challenging times.

"We still hope to put on the concert at some stage and we will let people know the new date as and when we have it."

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: "Thanks to Clive and his band for this kind and generous support for Ark - it is very much appreciated."

Founded in 2009, Clive Fortune Big Band perform a wide repertoire of big band classics and jazz standards. The band is a popular feature on the Basingstoke and Hampshire music circuit.

In 2016, they supported Ark and two other charities, which were supported by Councillor Anne Court in her year as Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, by performing in a charity concert at The Anvil.
