Rotary concert will help the Ark

Good music and good causes are set to be a winning combination as a rousing annual charity concert raises the rafters and pounds at a world-famous Basingstoke venue.

The Anvil is the perfect place to see and hear great music being performed, and on Sunday, January 28, 2018, The Rotary Club of Basingstoke Deane will be hosting another fabulous and memorable event at the award-winning concert hall.

The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines will be centre stage as they entertain the audience by playing their way through an impressive, and wide-ranging, repertoire.

The Band never fail to delight, and their performances at the annual charity event have become a popular feature of The Anvil calendar.

As well as the Band, the concert will feature The Royal Corps of Drums and a special guest appearance by The Chelsea Pensioners.

This year’s concert will see all profits from the event going to charities supported by Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club, including Help for Heroes and Ark Cancer Centre Charity, which is raising £5million towards a unique local Cancer Treatment Centre that will be built in the Basingstoke area.

Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club President Lindy Richardson said: “This concert is always a very special event for Basingstoke.

“It is a real privilege to have The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, The Royal Corps of Drums, and a dozen Chelsea Pensioners in town. The music will be superb, and the atmosphere will be exhilarating and unashamedly patriotic.”

This will be the 10th annual charity concert organised by Basingstoke Deane Rotary, and in recent years, each concert has raised more than £15,000 for good causes.

Lindy added: “Tickets for the concert are on sale now, and they would make an ideal Christmas present. It is always a popular concert that sells out quickly so I would encourage people to get their tickets before the festive season ends.”

Merv Rees, Ark Cancer Centre Charity trustee, said: “I am very grateful to the Basingstoke Deane Rotarians for choosing Ark Cancer Centre Charity as one of the good causes that will benefit from this wonderful annual concert again. This is a very welcome, and significant, show of ongoing support.”

The music begins in The Anvil on Sunday, January 28 at 3pm. Tickets are available now from the box office on 01256 844244 or online at
