Great show of support from Phillips Solicitors

They have been great Our Partner supporters of Ark Cancer Centre Charity - and the Phillips Solicitors team were delighted to hand over a cheque for £7,098 after another successful year of fundraising.

The giant cheque represented the end result of various fundraising activities for Ark, which was Phillips' Charity of the Year for 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Ark supporters take fundraising to a new height

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again – and that’s exactly what 18 fabulous Ark Cancer Centre Charity supporters did as they came, saw and conquered an abseiling challenge at a Hampshire landmark.

High winds on April 7 meant a team of intrepid fundraisers had to reschedule their attempt to abseil down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth – so on Sunday, May 13, the determined team returned and completed the feat in style.

Netball tournament pulls in the pounds

A well-supported netball tournament delivered a great result for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Ten teams took part in the Mixed Sex Netball Versatility Tournament, which involved teams of men and women playing in a round-robin contest that also saw the players change positions during each game.

The netball tournament was organised by Ark Cancer Centre Charity supporters Dani Taylor and her mum Debbie McLatch and there was good support from many local businesses.

It was an ambitious fundraising target – but legal eagles from a Basingstoke law firm have absolutely smashed their goal of raising £50,000 for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Clarke & Son Solicitors, based in Winchester Road, was one of the first Our Partner corporate supporters of the fledgling charity in February 2015 – and the team also supported Ark’s £5million appeal, which will help to fund a unique local cancer treatment centre, in 2016-17.

Have a spring clear-out and help Ark

Spring has finally sprung, so this is a great time to have a spring clear-out of your wardrobe and help Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

If you have a bit of spare time over the Easter break or coming weeks, why not fill up a bag or two with clothes or shoes you no longer want and take them to an Ark Bag It Up recycling bank.

It's been just over 18 months since Ark became a charity partner with Bag It Up Ltd (BIU) – one of the UK’s leading clothing and textile recycling companies.

Rugby Club quiz produces great result for Ark

The first Basingstoke Rugby Club Charity Quiz produced a winning result for Ark Cancer Centre Charity as more than £1,250 was raised for the good cause.

Teams from sponsors of the rugby club, many of which are also Ark supporters, took part in the inaugural quiz at the club’s Down Grange headquarters. Ark is the charity of the year of Basingstoke RFC President Dr Steve Tristram.

In a close-fought contest, the PDCM team, led by Basingstoke RFC vice-chairman Dave Cook, pipped a team from Lamb Brooks Solicitors to first place after a tie-break.
