Imogen Dental team show true grit for Ark

They may not have exactly blazed a trail on the water, but when it comes to determination, the Imogen Dental team were definitely the winners at this year’s Crafty Craft Race.

The team, who were taking part in the popular annual event to raise money for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, took more than six hours to complete the race – a gritty effort that earned them the Marcus Franks “Spirit of Crafty Craft” award.

And as well as going home with a prize, the Imogen Dental crew were delighted to smash their £2,500 target for Ark. So far, £3,000 has been raised and money is still coming in.

It’s the second time that staff from the award-winning company, which has practices in Kingsclere and Benson, in Oxfordshire, have raised thousands for Ark.

Every year, the staff at Imogen Dental make a difference to a deserving cause, and in 2017, they raised £9,200 for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and the cancer treatment centre project it is helping to fund, by trekking up Mount Snowden.

Dr Neel Tank, who founded Imogen Dental in 2005, said: “The Crafty Craft Race was a very different fundraising challenge to trekking up Snowden, but just as then, our team had a great time, and we are delighted to have beaten our fundraising target.

“We may have taken six hours to complete the course on our craft, aptly called ‘Decay Away’, but we had a great time and plenty of laughs on the way.”

A total of 15 teams set off from the start line on the Kennet and Avon Canal, opposite The Dundas Arms, in Kintbury, on May 6, with 13 managing to cross the finish line in Newbury at the end of the six-mile race.

Organised by Visit Newbury, and supported by Newbury Round Table, Crafty Craft is one of West Berkshire’s largest annual events.

As they did in 2017, the Imogen Dental team have been fundraising for Ark through The Good Exchange website, and anyone who wishes to donate can do so by going to https://bit.ly/2XGN1Wl

Well done to the Imogen Dental team for showing true grit in The Crafty Craft Race. They may have had a long journey in reaching the finish line but they did themselves and Ark proud, and thanks to everyone who contributed to the team’s fundraising total.
