Highclere and East Woodhay Society Charity Walk

Despite the threat of bad weather, about 160 walkers from Highclere, Woolton Hill and the surrounding villages met up at the Red House in Highclere for their 29th Annual Charity Christmas Walk.

The walk, followed a route around the footpaths of Highclere & East Woodhay starting and finishing at the Red House. The sum of £600 was raised via donations made on the walk for the charity. As in previous years, it was organised by members of the local luncheon group, Los Jubilados, in co-operation with the Highclere Society and the East Woodhay Society. Halfway around the four-mile walk, mince pies, kindly donated by Hetherton's, Budgens, and Waitrose, together with mulled wine were served.

Ian Briggs, one of the organisers said: "It was great to see so many families with young children and dogs being rewarded with a beautiful walk, if a trifle muddy, on a bright sunny day."
