Hayden is a fundraising ace!

A BASINGSTOKE businessman really has fundraising for a local cancer centre charity off to a tee.

Hayden Gowan, who owns The Tea Bar in The Top of The Town, was the driving force behind another successful fundraising golf day in aid of Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

More than 40 golfers took part in the latest charity golf day which was held at Sherfield Oaks Golf Club, Sherfield-on-Loddon.

An excellent day’s golf in lovely Spring sunshine was followed by an evening barbeque at The Tea Bar – and the net result from the day was that £1,542 was raised for the charity. This will be doubled thanks to match funding from Greenham Common Trust, which is supporting the charity’s fundraising appeal.

The winning team was presented with a trophy in memory of George McElhinney, who passed away from cancer.

Hayden thanked the golfers, all The Tea Bar staff, as well as the raffle prize sponsors for supporting the event.

He said: “This is the latest in a series of successful charity golf days for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and I am delighted that once again, a great day has been had by all involved, and we have raised a very good sum for this important local good cause.”

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “Hayden is one of Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s long-standing supporters, and everyone at the charity is grateful to him for organising another successful golf day in support of the charity and cancer treatment centre project.”
