Have a laugh and help Ark - Comedy Evening August 2nd, Apollo Hotel

As the Stand Up to Cancer campaign has proved, you can have a laugh and help the fight against the Big C – and that’s exactly what will be happening in Basingstoke on one night this summer.

On Friday, August 2, three of Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s great supporters are teaming up to put on a Laugh For Ark charity comedy night.

Basingstoke comedy legend Jan Jack, of Jan Jack’s Laughter-House Comedy Club, has compiled a superb line-up for the night of fun which is being sponsored by Unum and hosted by the Apollo Hotel, both of which are Ark Our Partner supporters.

The fab five acts who will be taking to the stage on August 2 are Chris McCausland, Ben Norris, Dan Kielty, Cerys Nelmes, and Jan Jack herself.

Chris has appeared on Live at the Apollo on television, and also at one of the monthly Laughter-House Comedy Nights at the Apollo Hotel in Basingstoke. Rated as one of the UK’s top stand-up acts, Chris’s website teaser for his recent successful Speaky Blinder tour sums up what’s in store for the Basingstoke audience: “He’s blind. He’s a dad. He’s a husband. He’s third in command. He’ll speaky about all of that, and loads more.”

Ben’s TV credits include “Mock the Week”, “Never mind the Buzzcocks”, and “They think it’s all over”. Like Chris, Dan, Cerys – who will MC the evening – and Jan, Ben has had a Basingstoke audience in stitches on previous Laughter-House Comedy Club nights, and he is looking forward to returning to the town.

Jan Jack said: “I am a long-time supporter of Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and with the support of Paul Fearon and his team at the Apollo Hotel, and the generous sponsorship from Ark Our Partner supporter Unum, we are all delighted to be putting on the charity comedy night to raise funds for Ark’s £5million fundraising campaign.”

Apollo Hotel general manager Paul added: “My team and I at Apollo Hotel are delighted that the charity comedy night is following on from the successful 2018 Une Grande Nuit charity gala dinner that the Apollo hosted for Ark, in partnership with the Arkriders.

“The August 2 event will be a great laugh and will help to raise further money for, and awareness of, Ark’s campaign to help fund the new NHS cancer treatment centre in Basingstoke.”

Andy Brown, charity champion at Unum Basingstoke, said: “The team at Unum Basingstoke are proudly supporting Ark as our charity of the year in 2018-19, and we are delighted to sponsor what will be a fabulous and fun evening.”

Tickets for the over-18s comedy night are £22 (including a £2 booking fee) and they are on sale now online at www.wegottickets.com/event/465040

Demand is expected to be strong so please book early. All proceeds from the ticket sales, except the booking fee, will go to Ark.
