Great result from a Truly beautiful relationship

It's been a beautiful relationship – and the team at booming business Truly Scrumptious Beauty Salons are celebrating after making a big difference to their charity of the year.

The thriving chain, which has salons in five north Hampshire towns, has been supporting Ark Cancer Centre Charity throughout 2016, and the husband-and-wife team who are the driving forces behind the business have now handed over a cheque for £15,000.

Truly Scrumptious Beauty Salons owners Claire and Craig Killick have been the leading lights behind the fundraising push and they have been well supported by the teams and clients in Basingstoke, Andover, Overton, Farnborough and Fleet.

In addition to the support that has been shown by the salons, Claire and Craig went more than the extra mile to help the charity’s £5million appeal by taking part in the successful JOGLE16 (John O’Groats to Land’s End) cycle ride in July.

Craig was one of four cyclists who completed the 1,000-mile-plus trek over 10 days and Claire was part of an eight-strong team who piled on the miles and pulled in the pounds by completing the three-day Basingstoke to Cornwall leg.

JOGLE16 eventually raised more than £50,000 – way above the original £20,000 target – and Claire said she and Craig are delighted that this fundraising feat and the contribution of the Truly Scrumptious Beauty Salons teams have made a big difference to the charity’s £5m appeal.

Claire, who bravely kick-started the fundraising push last December by shaving off her lovely long locks at a sponsored head-shave which also saw Craig and fellow Ark supporter Mark Dolby get a bald new look, said: “The Truly Scrumptious Beauty Salons teams are delighted to have had such a positive impact on Ark Cancer Centre Charity during 2016.

“In the salons, our teams have very close relationships with some clients, and stories relating to cancer are never far away.

“Although some of these are tinged with sadness, we also get to hear positive stories that show how strong people can be.

“Ark Cancer Centre Charity is a great cause for us to be involved with, and we are delighted to have raised so much money and also much greater awareness of the charity and cancer treatment centre project.”

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “I am very grateful to Claire, Craig and the team at the Truly Scrumptious Beauty Salons, as well as their generous clients, for their fabulous support.

“Claire and Craig have really lead by example, and their enthusiasm and commitment have resulted in a massive fundraising boost for the charity and much greater awareness of the charity’s fundraising mission and the cancer treatment centre project.”
