Five-star support from Clarke & Son

Their support for Ark Cancer Centre Charity has been truly five-star – and now Clarke & Son Solicitors have pledged to back the good cause for a fifth year, including on Ark Day.

The law firm, based in Winchester Road, Basingstoke, have so far raised over £65,000 for Ark – and they are aiming to add a further £15,000 in 2019-20.

Supporting Ark Day on Friday, June 21 will be just one of the many ways that the Clarke & Son team will be raising funds for, and awareness of, Ark’s £5million appeal which will help to fund a much-needed new NHS cancer treatment centre at Basingstoke hospital.

Darren Lovegrove, marketing manager at Clarke & Son, said: “We are going into our fifth year of supporting Ark Cancer Centre, and we are not slowing down!

“As a firm, we have already raised over £65,000 for Ark and we are proud to continue supporting this fantastic charity into 2019-20.

“So far, we have helped the charity reach a number of fundraising milestones with our enthusiastic team involved in various challenges and events, including organising a charity ball, several golf days, abseiling down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower, and taking on a wing walk.

“This year, we are looking to add £15,000 to our fundraising total, and once again we have recruited a team of charity fundraisers to take on challenges, big and small, to help us reach this target.”

Darren, who is a member of the Ark Day Organising Committee, added: “To support Ark Day, we will be taking part in a series of events.

“Ahead of Ark Day, on June 2, we will be trekking 20km along the Basingstoke Canal, from Fleet to Basingstoke. In the week leading up to Ark Day, we will be holding a static bike challenge, cake sale and dress down day in our offices, and our team will also be taking part in various events on Ark Day itself.”

During 2019-20, the Clarke & Son team, who won the Business and the Community category at the INSPIRE18 Business Awards, will also be taking part in a colour obstacle run, charity runs, and will be holding a charity golf day on Wednesday, July 10 at Dummer Golf Club.

And after hitting new heights on a daring wing walk last summer, brave Marie Pym will be reaching for the sky again as she and other fearless fundraisers from her family take part in a sponsored parachute jump in September – an event that will also be in memory of her brother Adie.

Darren said: “You can visit our charity fundraising team page on Virgin Money Giving at to see which events our staff members are taking part in. Thanks to everyone who supports us and help us to reach our target.”

Merv Rees, Ark Cancer Centre Charity trustee, said: “The support from the Clarke & Son team for Ark has been absolutely awesome, and to have their backing for a fifth consecutive year is a very significant show of support.

“They have already made such a massive difference to Ark’s fundraising campaign, and we wish them well with their 2019-20 fundraising feats, which includes their vital support for Ark Day.”
