Determined Danielle is ready to walk the walk for Ark

Determined Danielle Taylor is ready to walk the walk this weekend in a bid to pull in the pounds for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Twelve months ago, Danielle decided to take on the South Coast Challenge to support Ark’s £5million campaign to help fund a much-needed cancer treatment centre in the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) area.

Unfortunately, Danielle tore a ligament in training and had to withdraw from the event – but 12 months on, the legal eagle is set to rise to the challenge again on August 26 and 27.

Danielle, who is a solicitor in the family team at Paris Smith Solicitors in Winchester, said: “I have been determined to bounce back from the injury and have been training for this year’s challenge.

“My training has mostly consisted of varying levels of walking, with walks of between two and 12 hours. The big walk for this event is 100km along the South Downs from Eastbourne to Arundel, and it has to be completed within 33 hours.”

Danielle, 27, is well on the way to hitting her £400 fundraising goal but added that she hopes to raise as much money as possible for the charity, which is helping to fund the new cancer centre that will help and support cancer patients and their families, including people in and around the Winchester area.

Danielle said: “The new cancer treatment centre will make a big difference to people in the local area. I am grateful to everyone who is sponsoring me and supporting my fundraising for this fantastic charity and project.”

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “The charity is grateful to Danielle, who has shown great determination to overcome her injury and take on the South Coast Challenge. I hope she receives plenty of support as she strives to reach her fundraising goal.”
