Dental team set sail to help Ark

An intrepid dental practice team, who scaled the heights of Mount Snowden, are now set to take to the water in their ongoing mission to support Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

Every year, the staff at Imogen Dental make a difference to a deserving cause, and in 2017, they raised £9,200 for Ark, and the NHS cancer treatment centre project it is helping to fund, by trekking up the Welsh mountain.

Now, on Monday, May 6, the team, who work at practices in Kingsclere and Benson, in Oxfordshire, will be taking part in The Crafty Craft Race, in Newbury.

Crafty Craft is one of West Berkshire’s largest annual events. Organised by Visit Newbury, and supported by Newbury Round Table, the event sees teams race home-made rafts from Kintbury to Newbury along the canal.

The Imogen Dental crew, whose craft is aptly called ‘Decay Away’, will be among the many teams who will be raising money for a good cause as well as having a lot of fun.

Dr Neel Tank founded Imogen Dental in 2005, and he and his wife Laura are proud to have now developed two dental practices which provide very high standards of patient care and make a difference to the good causes they support.

Speaking about the latest fundraising feat, Neel said: “We, as a team, are extremely proud of our achievement in reaching Snowden’s summit via the Pyg track in 2017, and we are now looking forward to taking on this latest challenge to support Ark.

“There’s no question that The Crafty Craft Race won’t be anywhere near as demanding as the Snowden trek, but we hope that we will have a lot of fun and raise a further £2,500 for this very good local cause.”

As they did in 2017, the Imogen Dental team are fundraising for Ark through The Good Exchange website, and anyone who wishes to donate can do so by going to

Mark Jones, ,said: "The charity is very grateful to the Imogen Dental team for their great show of support, and we wish them well as they take to the water for The Crafty Craft Race. Let’s hope their raft floats as well as the original Ark did!”

The main event for the public at The Crafty Craft Race takes place near the finish Line in Victoria Park, from 10am to 4pm. There will be stalls and activities for all ages, as well as music and food, and Pelham’s fun fair in the adjoining meadows.
