Crafty Craft Race

Nineteen craft set sail on May Bank Holiday Monday at one of Newbury’s biggest events as a flotilla of home-made boats set off along the Kennet and Avon Canal. 

The annual Crafty Craft race set off at 8.30  from the Dundas Arms in Kintbury to the finish line at Newbury’s Victoria Park.One team, and three time winners at Crafty Craft, was raising money for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.  

The all women team - the Bicycle Belles, was confident as they crossed the finish line. Chairman of the East Woodhay Society,John Angle said: "I think we have broken the record this time."

One member of the crew of 12 Liz Robey said: "It's great fun. We have won it the last three times. It's just a really fun event, we are all local mums and we get to raise some money for charity."
