Clear out your closets

We are delighted to have become a charity partner with Bag It Up Ltd (BIU) – one of the UK’s leading clothing and textile recycling companies.

In a three-year partnership, which launched on August 1, the charity will be among BIU’s charity partners to benefit from a percentage of the proceeds when residents, businesses and community groups recycle their unwanted clothing, shoes and household linens at BIU locations in Hampshire.

Ark Cancer Centre Charity branding is now proudly displayed on BIU recycling banks at more than 50 locations in the Hampshire area, many of them in and around Basingstoke and Deane.

In April 2016, BIU celebrated its latest milestone of £7million raised for its partner charities thanks to donations from the great British public.

Now, residents, businesses and community groups who are keen to support Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s £5million appeal can help the fundraising campaign by having a clear out and putting their items in the recycling banks that bear the charity’s branding.

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “We are delighted that BIU has chosen Ark Cancer Centre Charity as one of its charity partners in Hampshire over the next three years. We are also grateful to the many organisations which have been keen to host banks bearing our branding – it is a great show of support. The partnership will be a real boost to the ongoing campaign to raise awareness of the charity and cancer treatment centre project, and it will also result in a welcome income stream which will contribute towards the creation of the much-needed unique local cancer centre. We would encourage local residents to take this opportunity to have a summer clean-out and to recycle unwanted items in the banks that carry Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s branding.”

Wendy Yarney, charity partnerships manager at BIU, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Ark Cancer Centre Charity. At BIU, we are proud of our partnerships with regional, UK based charities that are well-supported by local residents and businesses, and we look forward to generating funds for this great cause in Hampshire.”
