Charity football match delivers winning result for Ark

It may have been a draw but Ark Cancer Centre Charity was definitely a winner when teams from two Basingstoke businesses took part in a charity football match.

Colleagues from Sainsbury’s Distribution Depot, in Houndmills, took on staff from the Royal Mail, in Priestley Road, in a match held at Brighton Hill Playing Fields.

The game saw £320 raised for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and it ended with honours even at 2-2 – Danny Manton scoring twice for Sainsbury’s and Brian Cooke and Harrison West netting for Royal Mail.

Chloe Loughlin, engagement and communications lead at Sainsbury’s Logistics, popped in to present the large cheque to Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications at Ark Cancer Centre Charity on behalf of both companies.

Mark said: “Thanks to both teams for choosing to support Ark. Every pound counts towards our £5million target, and support from local people and organisations is at the heart of our fundraising campaign.”
