Arkriders saddle up for 2019 Twin Towns Tour

They are Ark Cancer Centre Charity legends - and now the fabulous Arkriders are gearing up for the next chapter of their fundraising journey.

Since 2016, the Arkriders have raised more than £216,000 for Ark's £5million appeal that will help to fund the much-needed new NHS cancer treatment centre at Basingstoke hospital.

The Arkriders have travelled from John O'Groats to Land's End, London to Brighton, Basingstoke to Paris, and Basingstoke to Bournemouth, clocking up the miles and the pounds.

This year, their biggest fundraising feat actually didn't involve getting on a bike as more than £30,000 was raised through the Une Grande Nuit charity dinner, which was held at, and organised in partnership with, the Apollo Hotel, in Basingstoke.

A couple of weeks after the successful dinner, Beaufort Financial (Reading) director Mark Dolby - one of the founding Arkriders and a long-standing supporter of the charity - led the peleton at the launch of the Arkriders 2019 Twin Towns Tour.

The 2019 challenge will see the cyclists pile on the pedal power through four countries in five days, covering around 100 miles a day, between July 17 and July 22 next year. The route will take the riders through Basingstoke's twin towns of Braine L'Alleud, in Belgium, and Euskirchen, in Germany - completing the Arkriders tour of the three twin towns which began when the cyclists visited Alencon on route to Paris in July 2017.

The deadline for signing up to the Arkriders 2019 Twin Towns Tour is December 1, and the team are delighted the required minimum 20 riders have already put pen to paper.

Cycling tour specialist Mallorca Cycling will be taking care of all the logistics, and there is still time for more riders to come on board.
